Social Information Management Applications

bulletUnification-  a web site database

Unification, developed by the Sto:lo Nation, is an application developed to manage social information. It can be web-based or stand-alone and enables users to manage case files in the social program, from intake to producing a cheque. Reports are generated electronically from data collection in the application, reducing the reporting burden to funders and improving compliance. First nations using Unification have a better understanding of how well their programs are working. FNTC is hoping to acquire Unification for use by First Nations in British Columbia.

Information, like any other resource, needs to be managed but before it can be managed it needs to be inventoried, organized and made accessible. Protection of traditional knowledge and issues around intellectual property face all communities. Let's work together to develop and share policies and best practices that we all can use. Professional training to become a professional specializing in libraries, records, archival management or museology is available at both the university and college level.
